Pre...

It begins with a phone or email consultation to determine what kind of portraits you're looking for, followed by a conversation about you, your family, and what kind of session will work best for you.

Session length - fixed, but flexible for you and your family

Plan for 1 to 1 1/2 hours per session.  However, I understand the demands of children, and don't book back-to-back sessions in order to allow for those unpredictable (not awake from nap yet?  An unexpected outburst?) moments.  My goal is that you are relaxed and not worrying about time constraints.  We will work together to create the perfect mood and setting to get the shots you want.

Session Bookings - Ready When (and where!) You Are

When...

Weekday and weekend sessions are available year round.  Some holidays may also be available upon special request.

Where...

Your session can take place wherever you like: your home, a park - anywhere you and your children are familiar and comfortable in so you can all just be yourselves.  I do recommend that when shooting newborns, we do it at home, and within the first few weeks.

Time of Day...

I prefer to use as much natural light as possible, to maintain the integrity of the moment we're trying to capture.  Therefore, morning and late afternoon sessions are best when shooting outdoors.  Morning and early afternoon sessions are best for shooting indoors.

In the event of inclement weather, we'll simply re-book your session.

During...

What to wear, what to bring...

Clothing choices can greatly impact the outcome of your photo session, so planning what to wear prior to the session is a good idea.

Here are some suggestions:

Simple, timeless clothing in solid, neutral colours work best.  Or, if you prefer a more colourful palette, just make sure all family members are coordinated.

Jeans or khakis photograph well when matched with solid shirts for a casual look.  Bare feet are always fun.

These are suggestions only.  I want you to feel free to use your own judgement in order to be comfortable and relaxed for your session.

Babies and Newborns

Naked is classic. Or in just their diaper.  Knitted blankets, hats and stuffed toys all offer something familiar for baby to relax with, yet won't get in the way.   A favourite outfit can work too.  But remember: the focus is on baby, not his clothes.

When in doubt, have a few options on hand, just in case.

Above all else, make sure everyone is clean, fed, and ready to have some fun!

After... No-Pressure Photo Selection Process

So, rather than having to sit down and choose your photos on the spot, you'll get the opportunity to peruse your pictures online within about two days of your session.  At this time, you will receive a link and password to visit your own online gallery.  The gallery will be available for viewing for two weeks only and will feature images from your session.  Feel free to share the link with family and friends.

Once you've viewed your session, and chosen your favourite shots the rest is up to you:

Choose from one of our many photo packages or we can create one just for you.

Happiness Guaranteed!

We all have photos we're not happy with.  And what a let down that can be after investing all that time and money.  When you've had the opportunity to view the pictures from your session, if you don't like what you see, we'll re-book a session and try again.  Honest.
